Nicole Evangeline Lilly (born August 3, 1979)   is a Canadian actress and author. She won a Screen Actors Guild Award and received a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Kate Austen in the ABC series Lost (2004–10).  She is also best known for her roles as Tauriel in The Hobbit ,   Hope van Dyne in Ant-Man and Connie James in The Hurt Locker .  
Evangeline most recently was seen on the big screen as Hope van Dyne in the Marvel movie Ant-Man and she will be reprising her role in the upcoming sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp . If you don’t remember, The Wasp is Hope’s alter-ego!
Evangeline Lilly, born in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta in 1979, was discovered on the streets of Kelowna, British Columbia by the famous Ford modeling agency. Although she initially decided to pass on a modeling career, she went ahead and signed with Ford anyway, to help pay for her University of British Columbia tuition and expenses.
Evangeline Lilly is one of those actresses who isn’t. She didn’t study acting. She didn’t have a single credit to her name before she auditioned for Lost . And after six seasons as the female star of one of TV’s biggest shows at the time, Evangeline and her long, tousled curls took a breather.
